Sonora Community Estates

Sonora Community Estates is an Adventist retirement community located in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills in the heart of California’s “Gold Country”. Sonora is known as the “Queen of the Southern Mines”. Sonora has a population of 4,500 and is the county seat for Tuolumne County. Visitors and locals alike enjoy its rich heritage, historic charm and small town hospitality. At the 1,826 foot elevation, it is nicely situated above the San Joaquin fog and heat, yet below the normal snow line of the mountains. The climate is great for retirement living.

Sonora has very good shopping for a town its size, or if you prefer, you can travel to Modesto 51 miles west.

A senior community

Central California Conference (CCC) owns and operates the SC Estates for members of the Seventh-day Adventist church. Applications for housing are welcome from independent, active individuals and couples aged 55+.

An on-site coordinator manages daily operations, accepting applications, and serving as a member and representative to our Property Council, and Property Board.

Regular & requested building & grounds maintenance is done by SCE staff. Regrettably, we are unable to perform private projects or make alterations to the homes beyond basic maintenance, but can provide the names of reputable local service professionals for approved modifications. Residents in detached homes, and some duplexes maintain their own lawns & planters. All residents have access and use of our community garden.

Compatible lifestyles

SC Estates matches the lifestyle of active independent Seventh-day Adventist retirees who still seeking church involvement. We share our spacious campus with the 800+ member Sonora Seventh-day Adventist church & school, and with pine, & oak trees, creeks, and community walking paths.

In this vibrant community hub, you’ll be steps away from Sonora SDA church & school programs. SDA satellite media provides local worship services, Hope, 3ABN, LLBN, AFTV, and ADTV, right in your home. All are provided free. 3-4 times each year we plan picnics, dinners, luncheons, and host speakers and topics relevant to the 55+ SDA retiree.

Nearby Sonora Regional Medical Center, a part of Adventist Healthcare systems, is just two miles away, and boasts a full-complement of all major medical specialties.
